OUR TEAM

Our goal is to make every visit to the Veterinarian as pleasant and comfortable for you and your pet as possible.  We aim to provide excellent customer service as well as medical advice you can trust.  Our virtual tour is great, but we would love for you to come by and meet our staff and take a tour in person!  We enjoy educating clients about their pets care, so please ask questions and we will be sure to get you the right information.


Dr. Blythe Waters

was born and raised in Atlantic Beach, Florida.  After graduating from Stanton College Preparatory School, she attended the University of Virginia on a Jefferson Scholarship.  She taught Advanced Placement Chemistry for a year at her alma mater before attending the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.  After graduation in 2003, Dr. Waters returned to Jacksonville and spent 5 years in small animal practice before taking a position at Emergency and Critical Care Pet Hospital.  She spent two years seeing a wide variety of medical and surgical emergencies before opening her own hospital in 2011.

Dr. Waters' love of animals started when she was young and some of her earliest memories are rescuing injured birds on the beach and riding the Mayport Ferry over to Little Talbot Island with her dad to take them to B.E.A.K.S.  After working for veterinarians in Jacksonville and Charlottesvile throughout high school and college, Dr Waters chose to focus on cats and dogs.  Her special interests include Allergies and the skin and ear diseases that dogs suffer from as a result, Geriatric medicine and Dentistry.  In her free time Dr. Waters enjoys reading, gardening, cooking with the things she grows in her garden and taking the dogs to the beach.  When her black lab, Watson, gets her motivated enough, she has even been known to run a race or two.  She shares her house with her husband Dave, their dog, and two cats. 


Dr. Steven November

was born and raised in Atlantic Beach, Florida.  After graduating from Stanton College Preparatory School, he attended the University of Florida on a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship.  After graduating with honors from the UF College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, he took a year off from school and worked as a surgical nurse at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists (Surgery) in Jacksonville. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2015, with a certificate in Veterinary Business Management.

Dr. November has always loved animals and enjoyed helping people, and his interest in medicine peaked during college. He decided a career caring for animals seemed like a great fit, so he started volunteering and working for veterinarians in Jacksonville.  His special interests include surgery, dermatology, dentistry, and radiology. In his free time Dr. November enjoys playing sports, surfing, taking his dog to the beach, and cooking. His furry friends include his Golden Retriever, Zoey, and his cat, Scooter.  


Dr. Carissa Hottinger

was born and raised here in Jacksonville. She graduated Cum Laude from UNF with a B.S. in Biology and worked as a biologist for several years before attending and graduating from UF's veterinary program in 2005.

She has worked with Dr. Waters on a part-time basis since 2012. She has a dog, Tulu and kitty, Meatball and in her spare time enjoys the beach, music events and traveling with her two-legged family. 

Jeanne DePais, CVT 

is our Head Nurse and Practice Manager.  Her interest in animals began when she started riding horses in New York State.  After studying environmental science at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, she eventually returned to her love of horses and began working at a stable in South Florida.  When she moved to Jacksonville in 2005, Jeanne began working as a nurse in a small animal hospital and went on to get her Certified Veterinary Technician license.  She has special interests in dentistry and anesthesiology as well as practice management.  Her family includes her husband, Itamar, her daughter, Brenna, her 2 dogs, Jack Jack and Keegan as well as her 2 cats, Cleo and Bear.  Outside of work she loves to hunt down native plants for her garden and spend time exploring some of North Florida’s beautiful parks.

Pam Cottingim

moved to Florida in 2006 from rural Illinois. She worked for Dr. Waters after moving as a receptionist and fell in love with helping animals. Over the past 8 years she has worked  in all aspects of the veterinary field including military working dogs at the Mayport Naval Station. It is then she realized this was her passion and is currently pursuing to be a Certified Veterinary Technician. In her spare time between school and work she takers her lab ( Onyx) to the beach where they spend hours playing ball. Her family also consists of Hitch, a rat terrier, and Mrs. Pants ( her one eyed cat!) 

Caroline Nicholas

grew up here in Jacksonville Beach. She has always loved animals so a career working with them just seemed to fit. Caroline is currently working towards becoming a certified vet tech. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach, fishing, and anything outdoors. Her household consists herself and her boyfriend, a dog, three cats, and two bunnies. Before joining the team at Animal Care of Ponte Vedra, she worked at another vet clinic for three years. 

Lark Robert, CVT

first fell in love with animals as a little girl growing up in St. Louis, MO. After graduating from Georgia Southern, she became the managing director of the Save-A-Life Animal Welfare Agency in Savannah, Georgia. While assisting in placing hundred of animals in forever homes, she found that many pet parent needed assistance and further education on how to keep their four legged family members happy and healthy. Lark relates to other pet parents and the medical dilemmas they are going through. Her brood has gone through everything from hips and knees replaced to chemotherapy. She understands the emotional drain that comes with having a sick or injured pet family member. However, she also understands the love and pure and utter joy that they bring to your life. Lark has been a veterinary technician since 2011 and became a certified veterinary technician in 2013. Her favorite part of the day is knowing that she made a difference in her patients' and parents' lives. 

Lark lives with her fiance Chris, their three dogs (Lily, Brody, & Margaret), as well as their multitude of cats, including their newest addition, Bean. When Lark isn't working or cleaning litter boxes, she enjoys sewing dog outfits for her doggie clothes line, Margaret&Bean, spending time with her family and watching NASCAR.

Sue Barris

was born in New York but lived most of her life in New Jersey. Before moving to Florida twelve years ago, she worked for a veterinary hospital for five years then started her own pet sitting business. She loved and cared for her clients and pets for over five years. Since moving to Florida she began working at a veterinary practice in Mandarin where she first met Dr. Waters and Jeanne. In January of 2015 Sue decided to join them in Ponte Vedra as Head Receptionist. She lives with her husband Gustavo, their dog PJ and their tortoise Mr. Personality. When she isn't working, her hobbies include gardening and going to the beach. 

Marina Coelho

started working at Animal Care of Ponte Vedra in January of 2015 as an assistant. She graduated from Creekside High school in 2012 and is currently attending UNF. Her entire life Marina has had an interest in animals. She lives at home with her parents, sister and furbabies: Chuck, Blaire, Mochi, and Tinkerbell.
